La Perla comes from renowned Mexican coffee producer Ernesto Pérez and his family. We’ve had the pleasure of featuring Ernesto’s coffees several times before in our Terruño line, and we’re excited to do so again with one of his newest farm projects.

In 2021, after the land had remained unplanted for three generations, Ernesto and his family began cultivating coffee on what would become La Perla. The farm produced its very first crop in 2024—and in that debut year, it earned a coveted Cup of Excellence award. The Pérez family continues to be recognized for their dedication to producing some of the finest specialty coffees in Mexico.

A fun fact about this coffee: it features the Marsellesa varietal, a relatively new arrival to Mexico. While Marsellesa is more commonly grown in Nicaragua, it’s gaining popularity in Mexico thanks to its strong disease resistance and exceptional cup quality.
